日本特有の入浴行為を世界に発信できる一つの日本文化にしていきたいとの想いで、放送作家・脚本家の小山薫堂氏が家元となり提唱する「湯道」とのコラボレーションによるトラベラーズノートが登場します。

日本人が日常の習慣として疑わない「入浴」という行為も、冷静に考えると、飲めるほど綺麗な水を沸かし、そこに人が入るという贅沢な行為が習慣化されている国は、この地球上に数えるほどしか存在しません。この稀有な文化を、茶道や華道のようにひとつの日本文化へと昇華させるべく、「湯道」は誕生しました。
家元の小山氏は、「湯道は作法にあらず、湯に向かう姿勢なり」と語り、日本各地にあるすばらしい温泉や江戸時代から続く銭湯を実際に訪れ、湯に浸かり、そこで閃いた文言を積み重ねてゆくことこそ、湯道を知るための近道だと考えています。
トラベラーズノートユーザーでもある小山氏より、湯に浸かり、巡らせた思いを「湯の記」として綴るための湯道手帳を作りたいとお声がけいただき、今回のコラボレーションが実現しました。

湯道バージョンのトラベラーズノートは、ブルーのカバーに湯道のロゴをシルバーの箔押しで表現し、中のリフィルは、湯に浸かり巡らせた思いを綴る「湯の記」をセットしています。
リフィルは、「湯の記」と「湯便はがき」の2種類をご用意。「湯の記」は、旅先で湯に浸かった記録を日記のように綴ることができます。「湯便はがき」は、中紙をミシン目に沿ってカットし、切手を貼って定型のはがきとして送ることができます。どちらも表紙には活版印刷でロゴを表現し、扉ページには、家元の小山薫堂氏による湯道についての言葉が綴られています。さらにノートをより便利に楽しく使えるお風呂のアイコンシールがセットされています。お風呂の必需品である桶と風呂上りの楽しみの牛乳瓶をかたどったチャームも作りました。
旅先でも日常でも日本人にとってお風呂は大切な時間です。湯道のトラベラーズノートとともに、そんなお風呂巡りを綴ってみてはいかがでしょうか。

これらのコラボレーションアイテムは、1月25日よりトラベラーズファクトリー中目黒、ステーション、京都で発売。オンラインショップでは2月22日より発売予定です。

“Yudo” is a concept proposed by a broadcaster and scriptwriter Kundo Koyama, who hopes to make the unique Japanese bathing custom a part of Japanese culture that can be shared with the rest of the world. TRAVELER’S COMPANY will release a TRAVELER’S notebook in collaboration with Yudo.

The act of taking a bath, which Japanese people do not doubt as a daily custom, is one of the few things on earth where the luxury of boiling water clean enough to drink and having people bathe in it is a customary practice. Yudo was created to sublimate this rare culture into a Japanese culture like Sado(the tea ceremony) and Kado(flower arrangement).
Koyama says, “Yudo is not just a way of taking a bath, but an attitude toward hot water.” He believes that the shortest way to learn about Yudo is to actually visit the wonderful hot springs and public bathhouses that have existed in Japan since the Edo period, soak in the hot water, and accumulate the phrases that are inspired by the bathing experience.
Koyama, who is also TRAVELER’S notebook user, asked us to create a Yudo notebook to record the thoughts and feelings that come to mind while soaking in the baths as “Yunoki (notebook to record hot water),” and this collaboration became a reality.

The Yudo version of TRAVELER’S notebook has a blue cover with the Yudo logo stamped in silver foil, and the inside refill is a set of “Yunoki” notes to record the thoughts and feelings of soaking in the hot spring.
Two types of refills are available: “Yunoki” and “Yubin-hagaki”. The “Yunoki” refill allow you to keep a diary of your travels in the hot spring. The “Yubin-hagaki ” can be sent as standard postcards by cutting the inside paper along the perforations and affixing a stamp. The cover of both refills features a letterpress logo, and the front page contains words about Yudo by Kundo Koyama, the founder of Yudo. In addition, bath icon stickers are included to make the notebooks more convenient and fun to use. The lineup also includes charms in the shape of a wooden basin, a Japanese bath essential, and a milk bottle, a fun after-bath treat.

These collaborative items will be available at TRAVELER’S FACTORY Nakameguro, Station, and Kyoto from January 25, and at TRAVELER’S FACTORY Online Shop from February 22.
