ラムさんが最初にトラベラーズノートを知ったきっかけは台湾の雑誌からでした。当時はマレーシアで販売しているお店がなかったため、旅行で日本に行った友達に買ってきてもらい、手に入れたそうです。トラベラーズノートを手に取った瞬間、すぐにその魅力に夢中になり、世界中を旅して出会った遺跡やアートをノートに書き留めたりして、使っていました。その後、トラベラーズノートを販売するオンラインショップを2012年にオープン、2016年10月、このノートの楽しさをもっと多くの人に伝えたくて、マレーシアの首都クアラルンプールと文化遺産も多い古都であり、マラッカのちょうど中間に位置するマレーシア西部の街、スレンバンに実店舗をオープンしました。ラムさんは、高校卒業後に親元を離れ、大学や仕事で約10年近く様々な都市を転々としていました。その後、故郷に戻り、文房具店を開くという小さいころからの夢を実現させました。スレンバンをその場所に選んだのは、やはり愛すべきホームタウンだったのが一番の理由ですが、同時にマレーシアの中心にあり、歴史や文化に富み、美味しい食べ物もたくさんある美しい街でもあります。ラムさんからスレンバンのおすすめスポットを紹介していただきました。もしマレーシアを訪れる機会があったら、ぜひスレンバンにも立ち寄ってみてください。TABIYOに遊びに行けば、ラムさんやスタッフが温かく迎えてくれるはずです。

Ms. Yen Fong Lam got to know TRAVELER’S notebook through a Taiwanese magazine. There was not anyone who was selling the TRAVELER’S notebook back then and it just so happened that her friend managed to get me a set during her trip to Japan. She fell in love immediately when the actual product was in her hands. She found so much joy and satisfaction through journaling and collecting artifacts from all around the world.
Tabiyo was first opened as an online shop in June 2012. Focus on only selling TRAVELER’S notebook at that time. Her physical shop in Seremban was opened in October 2016, Seremban is one of the towns in West Malaysia, located in the middle of the urban city – Kuala Lumpur and the historical city of Malaysia – Malacca.
She left her hometown after graduating from high school, living in different cities for almost 10 years, and finally made a decision to come back to where she belongs to, and to pursue her childhood dream to own a stationery shop. If you are wondering why she set up shop there, well, the reason is simple: Seremban is her home. More than just a pit stop between Kuala Lumpur and Malacca, Seremban is a beautiful town rich in history, food and culture.
She would introduce the recommended places in Seremban. Please visit there when you have a chance to go to Malaysia. She also hopes the visitors of Tabiyo can spend the day here, get to know us and their hometown, and see what they see in this amazing place.

ショップがあるマレーシアのセレンバンの名物、シューパオ（焼包）をモチーフにデザインしています。パイのような生地に甘辛く味付けた肉がぎっしり。訪れる機会があれば、ぜひ食べてみてください。

The design is based on the famous siu pao (baked cake) specialty of Seremban, Malaysia, where the store is located. The pie-like dough is filled with sweet and spicy seasoned meat. If you have a chance to visit, you should definitely try it.

Pasar Besar Seremban（生鮮市場）
スレンバンの地元料理を食べるなら、生鮮市場、Pasar Besar （パサール・ビサール）がおすすめ。1階には、本場の料理をふるまう屋台が並んでいます。
例えば、海鮮麺（揚げビーフン、豚肉、海鮮、野菜が入ったスープ麺）、牛肉麺（お米の麺に、厚切り牛肉、ピーナッツとキャベツの漬物を添えたもの）、Hakka Meeと呼ばれるひき肉入りの油麺などを楽しむことができます。もちろん、他にも美味しいものがたくさんあります。

At the 1st floor of Pasar Besar Seremban (wet market), there are many authentic food stalls which feature most of the “must-eat” food in Seremban. For example, cuttlefish vermicelli (made of fried mee hoon, flooded with brown color gravy and topped with braised pork slice, cuttlefish and vegetables), Beef Noodle (rice noodle with beef sauce, beef slices, peanuts and pickled cabbage), Hakka Mee (noodle topped with oil and minced meat), and many others.

2nd SpaceTabiyo Shopの系列店舗のカフェであり、私たちの隠れ家のような場所です。私たちのお店に来るために、マレーシア各地から何時間もかけてきてくださるお客様や友達がたくさんいらっしゃいます。そこで、文房具の “お買い物 “だけでなく、長時間のドライブの憩いの場を作りたいと考えました。私と夫は当時、カフェ巡りが大好きで、ハンドドリップコーヒーを飲むのが楽しみの一つでした。そこで、ハンドドリップコーヒーを提供する小さなコーナーを設けて、そこでお客様に寛いでもらいたいと考えました。最初は、手動のコーヒーミルと電気ケトルとハリオv60のスマートなドリッパー、そして厳選された豆だけで2nd Spaceを始めました。それから数ヶ月後、Tabiyoのお客様でもあるLixianさんと知り合い、コーヒーはもちろん、私たちが暮らすこの土地のことや、将来の夢などを話し合ううちに意気投合し、彼女と私の夫とともにより本格的に2nd Spaceをはじめることになりました。今では、2nd Spaceではハンドドリップコーヒーや昆布茶などの手作りの飲み物、ケーキなどを提供しています。今年は、2nd Spaceの発案で、セレンバン「ジャラン ジャラン=散歩」マップが誕生しました。お客様には当店から無料で提供でしていますので、ぜひセレンバンの街歩きを楽しんでほしいと思っています。

2nd Space is a partner shop of Tabiyo, which is a secret hide-out in our physical store. We have a lot of customers and friends from all over Malaysia who’s willing to travel for hours just to visit us. I felt that besides “shopping” for stationery, we could offer them a space to hang-out after long hours of driving. Me and my husband love to do cafe hopping back then, and to try hand-drip coffee is always on our list, hence, we thought why not we have a small corner to serve hand-drip coffee so that our customers would stay longer with us? That’s how we started 2nd Space with only a hand grinder, an electric kettle, Hario v60 / smart dripper, and selected beans. After a few months, I met Lixian (who’s also Tabiyo’s customer), we started to chat and found out that we share the same interest and vision towards coffee and our hometown. Together with her and my husband, a proper 2nd “space” is born. In 2nd Space, we serve hand-drip coffee, hand-crafted drinks such as kombucha, and cakes. This year, initiated by 2nd Space, a Seremban “Jalan-Jalan” (walk around) map was born. Customer can take a free copy from our shop and explore the fun of Seremban.

屋台のスタンドが店の前にあるちょっと目を引く喫茶店です。2代目の店主による「ヨン・タウ・フー」というマレー風のおでんを食べることできます。豆腐と野菜をミックスしたかまぼこ、牛肉団子、魚のペーストを詰めた豆腐製品まで、種類豊富なメニューからお好きなものを選んでどうぞ。

At this coffee shop, one stall stands out among the rest — the second-generation family-run business selling Teochew-style Yong Tau Foo (bean curd/ vegetable stuffed with fish paste and other ingredients). Take your pick from a staggering variety of items, from their specialty of fish cake mixed with tofu and vegetables, to beef balls and all types of fish paste-stuffed tofu products.

Ais Kacang (ABC) and Cendol
放課後によく訪れていた絶品の冷たいデザート。”ABC “は、かき氷、シロップ、豆とガラスのゼリーを混ぜたもの。Cendol(センドル: パンダンの葉ジュースの米粉ゼリー) は、かき氷とココナッツミルク、椰子の黒糖に加え、オプションのトッピングをのせて、スチール製のボウルでいただきます。

The perfect cooling dessert where we used to visit after school. “ABC” is made of shaved ice, syrup, a mixture of beans and glass jelly. As for cendol, similar with Ice Kacang, it is served in a steel bowl with shaved ice, cendol (made of rice flour jelly with pandan leaves juice), coconut milk, gula Melaka and some other optional toppings.
