Classic Moongusaは、その名の通り、クラシックな定番ステーショナリーを扱う店舗として、韓国の済州島で2021年にオープンしました（Moongusaとは韓国語で文房具屋という意味です）。オーナーのキムさんは、幼いころから文房具が好きで、その中でもヴィンテージのものや長く使えるものを集めていたそうです。

「済州島に引っ越してきたときには、周辺に文房具を扱うお店があまりありませんでした。さらに済州島の古い町並みにも惹かれ、この場所で文房具の魅力を伝えられるようなお店を開きたいと思うようになりました」

キムさんは済州島にこの店をオープンした理由を伝えながら、さらにトラベラーズノートとの出会いについても語ってくれました。

「最初、友人が持っていたパスポートサイズのトラベラーズノートを見たのですが、そのときはただのパスポート用のケースだと思っていました。それからしばらくして、カフェで、私の前にいた人が支払いをするときに、カードを取り出したケースが同じものだったんです。さらに、飛行機でメモを書いている人が、書き終わると革の表紙をゴムバンドで閉じているのを見て、友人が使っているものと同じだと気づきました。何度も目に留まる美しい革の佇まいに加え、用途の多様さに心を奪われた私は、友人にその正体を尋ねて、トラベラーズノートにたどり着いたんです。その後、Classic Moongusaをオープンするタイミングで、トラベラーズノートを実際に使ってみることを決めました。

トラベラーズノートを見ていると、若いころに使っていたシステム手帳を思い出します。リフィルを自由に変えられて、そこに有名人の写真やシールを貼ることができる。さらにお小遣いも収納できる。なにげなく開くと『それ何？』と友だちが聞いてくる。そう聞かれて自慢げに手帳を開いて見せていた幼い頃を思い出しました。

大人になった今、美しい革の表紙と上質な紙に、真鍮製のスタイリッシュな筆記用具を備えたトラベラーズノートにすっかり惚れ込んでいます。トラベラーズノートを持っていると、それに興味を持ってくれる人がたくさんいて嬉しく思うし、毎日旅をしている気分にしてくれる魔法のノートです。今では、私もトラベラーズノートを持っている人を見ると『きっとこの人は面白い人だ』と確信してしまいます。そして、そのトラベラーズノートに年季が入っていればいるほど、『この人はどんな人なのだろう』と興味をそそられてしまうんです」

Classic Moongusa is a store that sells classic stationery and souvenirs.
Moongusa means stationery store in Korean. I have been using various stationery products since I was young, and I collect and pursue vintage items and things that will last a long time. I moved to Jeju Island, but there weren’t many places to buy stationery. I wanted to try it out and introduce it to other people, so I decided to open a stationery store. Then, attracted by the charm of Jeju’s old town, we opened a store here in 2021.

A few years ago, I saw a friend’s passport wallet and at first I thought it was just a passport wallet. And at the cafe, I saw the person in front of me take out his card and pay. I thought it was a wallet, but it looked like my friend’s. And I saw someone taking notes on the plane. I thought it was a small notebook, but when I saw that it was closed with a rubber band, I thought, “Oh, it’s the same thing.”

The variety of uses and the beautiful leather that kept catching my eye caught my eye, so I asked my friend what it was, and later, when I started running a stationery store, I prepared to welcome TRAVELER’S notebook.

When I look at the TRAVELER’S notebook, it reminds me of the binder-style diary I used when I was young.You can change the refill at will, you can attach pictures of celebrities or stickers, you can fold and put your pocket money in it, and when you open it for no reason, there are people who ask, “What is that?” It reminded me of the cute days when I would proudly show something to people when they asked me a question.

Now that I’m an adult, I’m completely in love with the TRAVELER’S notebook, which has a grown-up leather cover, high-quality paper, and a stylish brass writing instrument. Even if it’s still only favorite star and stickers in the notebook… It’s a magical notebook that makes me proud when someone takes interest in my notebook and makes me feel like I’m traveling every day.

Now, when I see a person holding a notebook, I am convinced that he is not a bad person, and I have developed a prejudice that the older the notebook, the more interesting the person may be.

済州島は、ツバキの花の名所でみかんの産地としても知られています。スタンプは人類無形文化遺産に指定されている済州島の海女とツバキの花、みかんをモチーフにデザインしました。

光徳亭／Gwandeokjeong（文化財）
光徳亭は済州島で最も古い建物のひとつで、韓国の文化財に指定されています。ここは、かつて兵士を訓練するために建てられ、済州島の重要な行事が行われた場所です。さらに昔の繁華街の広場でもありました。今でもイプチョン（立春）を始め、様々な伝統行事が行われています。光徳亭の隣にある旧庁舎に入り、昔の雰囲気を感じながら散歩するのもおすすめです。韓服を着て、美しい伝統模様の建物の中を歩くという、ここでしかできない体験もできます。

Gwandeokjeong Pavilion is one of the oldest buildings in Jeju and is a cultural property designated as a Korean treasure. It was built to train soldiers and is also the (old) downtown square where important events in Jeju were held. Even in modern times, various traditional events are held, starting with Ipchun(立春). If you go into the old government office next to Gwandeokjeong, it is good to take a walk and feel the old atmosphere. You can have the unique experience of wearing Hanbok and walking among traditional buildings with beautiful traditional patterns.

Umu（デザート）
Umuは寒天から作られたプリンのお店です。済州島の海女が採取した寒天を長時間煮込んで作られます。

Umu is a pudding made from agar-agar (Umut-ga-sari). Agar-agar collected from the sea by Jeju divers. It is made by boiling it for a long time.

Dong mun Si jang（市場）
済州島最大かつ最古の毎晩開催されている常設の市場です。露店市場、夜市、伝統市場、海鮮市場が全部集まったような市場で、食事や買い物ができる場所も多いため観光客に人気です。ミカン、オメギ餅、モダクチギ、ミカンスナックなどが売られ、さまざまな済州島の特産品味わうことができます。

This is Jeju Island’s largest and oldest permanent market. A street market, night market, traditional market, and seafood market are all combined in one place, and there are many places where you can eat and shop, so it is popular with tourists. You can find Jeju specialties such as tangerines, omegi rice cakes, modakchigi, and tangerine snacks. You can taste a variety of food at the night market, which is held every night.
