TRAVELER’S notebook Limited Set MOOMIN from the book “Comet in Moominland”
2021年にはスナフキン、2022年にはリトルミイにフォーカスしたコラボレーションアイテムを発売してきましたが、この度、小説『ムーミン谷の彗星』をテーマにしたトラベラーズノートとそのカスタマイズアイテムのセットが登場します。
『ムーミン谷の彗星』は、二作目のムーミン小説として、1946年に発表されました。
ある日、長い尾をひいた彗星が地球に向かってくるということを聞き、ムーミンとスニフは、真相を調べるため天文台へと旅に出ます。その旅の途中でスナフキンやスノークのおじょうさんなどとの出会いも描かれている冒険の物語です。
「ムーミン」の物語は、自然への畏敬の念が随所に表現されています。その中でそれぞれのキャラクターの自由で自分らしく振舞う姿は、時代を超えた普遍的な物語として今も多くの人に愛されています。
コラボレーションアイテムは、小説『ムーミン谷の彗星』から、登場するムーミンたちの言葉と挿絵をピックアップしてデザインしました。
トラベラーズノート ブルーの革カバーには、スノークのおじょうさんが、メダルをムーミンの首にかけてあげるシーンを箔押しで表現。
スノークのおじょうさんは、おそろしい食虫植物に襲われていたのを助けてくれたお礼をムーミンにしたいと思い、ツリーのてっぺんにのせる大きくてきれいな星を売店で手に入れます。それを勇者のメダルとしてムーミンの首にかけて、「あなたのすがたがどんなに立派だか、自分で見られたらねえ※」と言います。そんな彼女と彼女の行動に胸がいっぱいになるムーミンの素敵なシーンです。
表紙のゴムに付けることができるブラスチャームは、星のメダルを再現しています。
リフィルの表紙には、スナフキンが赤い宝石が群生する谷間へ、ムーミンとスニフを案内するシーンを活版印刷で表現しています。
“「あれぜんぶ、きみのものなの？」スニフが小声でたずねると、スナフキンは関心なさそうに答えました。「ぼくがここに住んでる間はね。自分で、きれいだと思うものは、なんでもぼくのものさ。その気になれば、世界中でもな」※”
なんでも自分のものにしたがるスニフに対し、スナフキンは、手にしなくても見たものを頭の中にしまっておくだけでいい、と諭します。
ブラスボールペンには、「こわがらなくてもいいよ。ぼくが守ってあげるから。※」と、大きく開いた瞳で、スノークのおじょうさんに語っているムーミンの姿が、ブルーのボディにプリントされています。
さらに、小説の中のシーンを挿絵とともに再現した、5種類のステッカーを加えて、本をイメージしたボックスにセット。手にすることで、『ムーミン谷の彗星』の物語の世界を感じられるトラベラーズノートとカスタマイズアイテムになっています。

After releasing collaboration items focusing on Snufkin in 2021 and Little My in 2022, now we are pleased to introduce a limited set of TRAVELER’S notebook and customized items based on the novel “Comet in the Moominland”.
“Comet in the Moominland” was the second Moomin novel published in 1946.
One day, Moomin and Sniff heard that a comet with a long tail is heading toward the earth and they set off on a journey to an observatory to find out the truth. The story is an adventure that also describes their encounters with Snufkin and Snork Maiden on their journey.
“Moomin” stories express a reverence for nature throughout. The characters’ freedom to act in their own way is a timeless and universal story that is still loved by many today.
The collaboration items were designed by picking up words and illustrations of Moomin and other characters from the novel “Comet in the Moominland”.
The leather cover of TRAVELER’S notebook Blue features a foil-stamped scene in which Snork Maiden puts a medal around Moomin’s neck.
Snork Maiden wanted to thank Moomin for saving her from being attacked by a horrible insectivorous plant, so she got a star that adorned the tree in the town store. She put it around Moomin’s neck as a medal of valor and said, “Now you should see how wonderful you look”*. It is a wonderful scene of Moomin’s heart being filled by her and her actions.
The brass charm that can be attached to the elastic on the cover is produced in the shape of a star medal.
The cover of the refill features a letterpress print of the scene where Snufkin leads Moomin and Sniff to the valley where the red gems grow in clusters.
“Wonderful! Are they yours?” asked Sniff softly. “As long as I live here,” said Snufkin carelessly. “I’m monarch of all I survey. I own the whole earth.” *
In response to Sniff’s desire to own everything, Snufkin admonished him to just keep what he sees in his mind without having to hold it in his hands.
The blue body of the Brass Ballpoint Pen is printed with an image of Moomin’s wide-open eyes as if he is telling Snork Maiden, “I’m here to protect you.” *
The items are packaged in a book-inspired box with five different stickers that depict scenes from the novel along with illustrations.
TRAVELER’S notebook and the customized items invites you to feel the world of the 「Comet in the Moominland」story as you hold them in your hand.

This collaboration is only available in Japan under Moomin’s license agreement.
MOOMIN SHOP ONLINE (Moomin official online shop in Japan) will have these items available for pre-sale. Afterward, they will be available for pre-order at TRAVELER’S FACTORY Online Shop from December 25. (If the number of reservations exceeds the number of items to be sold, a lottery will be held.
